THE SAFARI The Safari schoolhouse
project is built on elementary school campuses for kids grades K-5.
The facility is a gift to Arizona school districts and will be used
as added classroom space, for an after-school program, and is
available for weekend use as well. In conjunction with school districts and the
appropriate agencies, it's our hope that sustainability goes beyond
the structure and continues in the after-school programs.
There are seven designated areas in The Safari schoolhouse.
- The Jungle: A backyard and playground area
- The Watering Hole: A fully functional kitchen
- The Zoo: An interior play area
- The Base Camp: Lounge area
- The Guides’ Corner: A designated area for administrators
- The Den: A library
- First Aid Tent: An area dedicated to first aid, health, wellness
and nutrition
Each area and room in The Safari is sponsored and made possible by
community businesses.
FIRST DISCOVERY.
The First Discovery program is designed as a fun, educational
childcare program for children of low-income families and
disadvantaged neighborhoods. In addition to tutors, program
administrators, and mentors from the recently-retired senior
community, First Discovery will also include the following
educational elements.
- Help with manners and good behavior
- Fun, educational study sessions
- Encourage use of imagination
- Activities to boost self esteem
- Environmental education
- Implement recycling programs
- Educational computer games
- Engaging group activities
- Healthy food, drinks, and snacks provided
- Teach healthy, nutritious eating habits
We hope to inspire school districts to house programs like First
Discovery at Elementary schools in the future.
